Jordan Condemns Israeli Unit for Gaza Displacement; Trump's Prior Stance Surfaces

Jordan has condemned Israel's security cabinet for approving a new unit within the Defense Ministry to "coordinate" the forced displacement of Gazans. The Jordanian Foreign Ministry stated that any Israeli actions targeting the presence of Palestinians on their land are invalid and violate international law. The ministry also rejected actions violating UN Security Council Resolution 2334. The Israeli Defense Ministry announced on March 22 the approval of the new unit focused on the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza. It was suggested the unit would coordinate land, sea, and air routes for the displacement. The statement also referenced claims that the Tel Aviv administration was working to implement former U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to forcibly displace Palestinians in Gaza. Trump stated on February 4 that the U.S. would "take over" Gaza, suggesting Palestinians relocate to new settlements in neighboring countries.
