Japan and South Korea to Skip NATO Summit Amidst Rising Tensions

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

The NATO summit in The Hague, scheduled for June 24-25, 2025, will see a notable absence of key Asian leaders. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba has withdrawn his participation, with Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya representing Japan instead.

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has also canceled his attendance. These decisions come amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly following US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The US attacks have heightened international security concerns, with President Donald Trump considering further action. These developments raise questions about future cooperation within NATO.
