Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

The Philippines and Grenada have formally established diplomatic relations. Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and Grenada's Foreign Minister Joseph Andall signed a joint communique on May 8. The signing occurred during a meeting of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member states.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) stated this marks a new phase in the Philippines' engagement with the Caribbean. It expands the Philippines' diplomatic reach to 14 CARICOM countries. Manalo also met with foreign ministers from CARICOM during the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) meeting in St. Kitts and Nevis from May 8 to 9.

COFCOR is CARICOM's body responsible for coordinating foreign policy. It also fosters relations with international organizations and non-member states. This move is expected to strengthen ties between the Philippines and the Caribbean region, promoting collaboration on various global issues.
