Us threatens to halt ukraine peace talks amid slow progress

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has threatened to halt negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine. Rubio stated that the US might end its mediation efforts if a quick resolution proves unattainable. He emphasized the need to determine the feasibility of a short-term solution within days.

Rubio's statements followed discussions with European and Ukrainian representatives in Paris. He acknowledged Europe's significant interest in resolving the conflict. However, he also pointed out that the US has provided billions in support to Ukraine and must now consider other priorities.

The US has shifted its approach to Ukraine under President Donald Trump. Trump has repeatedly claimed he could quickly end the war. Rubio's remarks are seen by some as increasing pressure on Moscow, though the Kremlin remains unfazed. A US withdrawal from negotiations would be detrimental to Ukraine, potentially emboldening Russia.
