US and India Strengthen Ties Amid Global Shifts

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard concluded a visit to India, emphasizing the "huge opportunities" for US-India relations. Gabbard highlighted the commitment of both countries to prioritizing their nations' interests, noting that this should not be mistaken for isolationism. She referred to Modi and Trump as "great friends," mentioning their meeting in Washington. Modi also joined Trump's "Truth Social" platform. Gabbard addressed potential tariffs, stating that Trump and Modi are working on solutions considering both countries' economic interests. They discussed combating terrorism and enhancing maritime and cyber security cooperation. Gabbard stated that the Indo-Pacific is the "geopolitical center of gravity for the 21st century." She emphasized the need to maintain a "free and open" region. Gabbard met with Modi and Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to discuss defense and intelligence cooperation. Singh requested the US to label a Sikh separatist group, Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), as a terrorist organization.
