Ukraine-Russia talks in turkey yield prisoner exchange agreement

Edited by: Света Света

Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in Turkey concluded with a limited agreement. The only concrete outcome was an agreement to exchange 1,000 prisoners of war from each side. This is the largest exchange since the start of hostilities.

Ukraine had requested a 30-day ceasefire prior to negotiations, but Russia rejected this proposal. Russia maintains its maximalist positions, including severe limitations on Ukraine's sovereignty. The meeting was marked by visible tensions.

Despite limited concrete results, the event represents a symbolic victory. Russia avoided accepting Ukraine's requested ceasefire, maintaining its strategic advantage. Both sides mentioned discussing a potential meeting between Zelensky and Putin.
