Iran Nuclear Talks: European Powers Meet Amidst Rising Middle East Tensions

Edited by: Anna 🌎 Krasko

On June 20, 2025, the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom will meet with their Iranian counterpart in Geneva to discuss Iran's nuclear program. These talks are coordinated with the United States.

The aim is to secure firm assurances from Iran that its nuclear program will remain strictly for civilian use. This initiative comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following Israeli airstrikes on Iran and retaliatory missile attacks by Tehran on Israeli targets.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed support for Israel's actions, drawing criticism from Tehran. Meanwhile, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul urged Iranian leaders to seek a nuclear agreement, emphasizing the importance of dialogue to prevent further escalation.
