India at 2025 BRICS Meetings: Energy and Transport Focus in Brazil

India is actively participating in the 2025 BRICS meetings in Brazil, focusing on energy and transport initiatives. Union Minister Manohar Lal attended the BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting on May 19, emphasizing cooperation for inclusive and sustainable global governance. The meeting's theme was "Empowering Global South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Global Governance".

India showcased its achievements in the energy sector, including a 90% increase in power capacity and leadership in renewable energy. The country reaffirmed its commitment to equitable access to energy and accelerating the energy transition. Manohar Lal presented the 'Power Model' of Developed India at the meeting.

Earlier in May 2025, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari represented India at the BRICS Transport Ministers' Meet in Brasilia. Gadkari articulated India's commitment to building sustainable transport infrastructure, highlighting initiatives like PM GatiShakti and Bharatmala. The BRICS Transport Ministers' Meeting focused on sustainable and resilient transport infrastructure and the creation of a BRICS International Logistics Alliance.
