On June 17, 2025, Chongqing, China, hosted a drone show that broke the Guinness World Record for the "largest image formed by drones." A total of 11,787 synchronized drones were used, surpassing the previous record of 10,197 drones set in Shenzhen on September 28, 2024.
The drones created large-scale, three-dimensional figures, including animated characters, mountains, buildings, letters, and a giant red flower, all illuminated with a wide range of colors. The dynamic images provided a visual experience comparable to, or even superior to, traditional fireworks displays.
This event showcases the advanced technology behind drone swarms, including sophisticated positioning systems, artificial intelligence algorithms, and real-time communication networks. Beyond entertainment, the achievement highlights the potential of drone swarms in areas such as security, environmental monitoring, aerial advertising, and sustainable mass events.
