The BRICS summit officially commenced on July 6, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event began with an official arrival ceremony for heads of state and government from BRICS member countries at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM) Aterro do Flamengo.
The first plenary session focused on "Peace and Security and Global Governance Reform." This was followed by lunch and closed-door working meetings. The second plenary session addressed "Strengthening Multilateralism, Economic-Financial Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence."
The summit's first day concluded with an official reception hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The agenda for the second day includes a plenary session on "Environment, COP30, and Global Health."
