Powerful Earthquake Hits Myanmar, Felt in Thailand and China

A significant earthquake, registering a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale, struck central Myanmar on March 28, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The epicenter was located 16 kilometers northwest of Sagaing at a depth of 10 kilometers.

A second, less intense earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 followed shortly after. The tremors extended into Thailand and Yunnan, Southwest China. Reports indicate road fractures in Naypyidaw, Myanmar's capital.

In Bangkok, Thailand, a 30-story building under construction collapsed following the earthquake. Rescue teams are searching for 43 missing construction workers. The building, intended for government offices, was located near Chatuchak Park. Fifty people were in the building at the time of the collapse; seven managed to escape.
