Turkish and Russian Foreign Ministers Discussing Pathways to End Russia-Ukraine War at G20 Meeting

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov convened on Thursday to discuss the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and potential avenues for resolution. The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the G20 foreign ministers' gathering in Johannesburg, South Africa. Discussions included recent talks related to the conflict.

Prior to this meeting, during the 27th MIKTA foreign ministers' meeting, Fidan advocated for the immediate commencement of a comprehensive peace process involving both parties in the Russia-Ukraine war. He also emphasized the necessity for enhanced multilateral cooperation in addressing global humanitarian crises, the situations in Gaza and Lebanon, developments in Syria, and the war in Ukraine. Fidan reiterated Türkiye's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
