The United Nations General Assembly is scheduled to vote today on a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The resolution also demands the release of all hostages held by Hamas and the opening of border crossings for humanitarian aid delivery. Spain drafted the resolution, which strongly condemns the use of starvation of civilians as a method of warfare.
The resolution is expected to pass with a large majority of the 193 member states. However, unlike Security Council resolutions, those of the General Assembly are not legally binding.
