Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Kuwait City, June 2025 - Kuwait continues to advance its Healthy Cities Initiative, integrating health into urban planning to improve quality of life and promote sustainable development.

West Abdullah Al-Mubarak City was accredited as a Healthy City in April 2025. Sabah Al-Salem University City was designated a Healthy University City by the World Health Organization (WHO) in November 2024.

The WHO evaluated Al-Sha’ab, Du’a, and Qortuba in January 2025, potentially increasing the number of certified Healthy Cities to ten. Kuwait was recognized at the Partnership for Healthy Cities Summit in Paris in March 2025 for its achievements in preventing noncommunicable diseases and injuries.

Kuwait plans to expand the initiative nationwide, emphasizing community participation and intersectoral collaboration. This effort positions Kuwait as a regional leader in promoting healthy urban environments and sustainable development.
