The United Nations (UN) is reporting a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, exacerbated by ongoing military operations and a prolonged blockade of aid. Recent reports indicate that Israeli forces killed at least 39 Palestinians in the last 24 hours. The overall death toll since October 7, 2023, has surpassed 51,305, with thousands more missing and presumed dead.
The UN denounces the 50-day blockade of humanitarian aid, the longest since October 7, 2023. UNRWA has expressed concerns that aid is being used as a political bargaining chip, worsening the crisis for the Gazan population. Approximately 3,000 trucks carrying essential aid are currently waiting to enter Gaza, but are being blocked by the ongoing blockade.
Recent attacks have also reportedly damaged or destroyed vital aid equipment, including water trucks. The international community, including Germany, France, and the UK, has urged Israel to allow the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid, emphasizing that such aid should not be used as a political tool.
