Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that over 915,000 Syrian refugees have returned to Syria since 2017. Since December 9, 2024, more than 175,000 Syrians have returned, contributing to this total.
The UNHCR reports that approximately 400,000 Syrians have returned from neighboring countries following the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024. Additionally, over 1 million internally displaced Syrians have returned to their homes.
Türkiye supports the dignified, safe, and voluntary return of Syrians. All returns are monitored by the UNHCR to ensure transparency. Türkiye has also appointed a migration envoy to Syria.
