The Ministry of Health (MoH) in South Sudan and the World Health Organization (WHO) have signed an agreement to bolster health systems across the country. This partnership falls under the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP).
The HSTP aims to address significant health challenges in South Sudan, which are worsened by ongoing conflict, inadequate infrastructure, and the effects of climate change. The project seeks to improve healthcare delivery nationwide.
With USD 12.7 million in funding from the health Multi Donor Trust Fund, the HSTP will focus on innovative approaches to health system development. WHO's support will complement operational support provided by UNICEF, working towards ensuring equal access to essential health services and universal health coverage, as emphasized by Dr. Anin Ngot Mou, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Humphrey Karamagi, WHO Representative for South Sudan.
