European Leaders Convene in Paris to Discuss Support and Ceasefire Strategies for Ukraine

Paris hosted a summit of European leaders and allies to discuss strategies for supporting Ukraine and achieving a ceasefire. Thirty-one delegations attended, excluding China, as the meeting focused on countries friendly to Ukraine. Turkey was represented by Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz, and Italy by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Discussions centered on four key areas: immediate aid to Ukraine, terms for a comprehensive ceasefire, long-term support for the Ukrainian military, and the establishment of a "reassurance force." Participants explored how to effectively assist Ukraine, aiming for a total ceasefire verified through agreements with Russia. The "reassurance force," supported by multiple European countries and the UK, seeks to bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities and prevent further Russian aggression. The EU's stance remains firm against lifting sanctions on Russia as a condition for a ceasefire, with potential for increased sanctions if Russia does not comply with ceasefire demands.
