UN Chief Guterres Praises Qatar's Mediation Between DRC and Rwanda Presidents in Doha Meeting

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres commended the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for mediating a trilateral meeting between the presidents of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Félix Tshisekedi, and Rwanda, Paul Kagame. The meeting occurred on March 18 in Doha. The UN supports merging the Luanda and Nairobi processes, alongside discussions between the Congolese government and M23. Guterres emphasized the urgency of implementing the Security Council resolution demanding the withdrawal of M23 and Rwandan forces from the DRC. The UN mission in the DRC remains committed to supporting stabilization and humanitarian aid efforts.
