UNESCO convened an information meeting on Gaza at its Paris headquarters. Ambassador Aybet, Turkey's Permanent Representative to UNESCO, thanked the UNESCO Ramallah office for its work in Gaza. Aybet acknowledged UNESCO's comprehensive session and the efforts made in a short time, highlighting the Temporary Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment (IRDNA) conducted with the World Bank, EU, and UN.
UNESCO's initiatives in education, such as providing psychological support, digital learning, temporary learning spaces, and tablets for online exams, were recognized. Efforts to clear debris from cultural heritage sites in collaboration with UNEP and UNDP were also noted. Aybet expressed satisfaction that the Monastery of Saint Hilarion in Gaza, supported for inclusion in the World Heritage List, remains undamaged.
Support for journalists in Gaza, including safe centers with equipment and internet access for those working for international agencies like Anadolu Agency, was emphasized. Aybet noted Turkey's contribution to the Gaza emergency aid fund and urged member states to continue funding due to ongoing needs.
