UN General Assembly Adopts Resolution for Peace in Ukraine; 93 Nations Vote in Favor Amidst Global Concerns

The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on Monday calling for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in Ukraine. The resolution, initiated by Ukraine and several European countries, garnered 93 votes in favor, with 18 against and 65 abstentions. It addresses the global repercussions of the conflict, including impacts on food security, energy, economies, nuclear safety, and the environment. The resolution also voices concern over reports of North Korean soldiers participating on the Russian side, cautioning against further escalation. It urges an immediate cessation of hostilities and a peaceful resolution in accordance with the UN Charter and international law, while also calling for intensified diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation. The UNGA act reaffirms previous UN resolutions demanding Russia's immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Ukraine.
