Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar, on March 28, 2025. A security camera captured the moment a tectonic fault ruptured, showing the ground splitting in two. The video, filmed at the Green Power Energy project in Tha Pyay Wa, has gone viral. The earthquake occurred along the Sagaing Fault, a major tectonic fracture similar to the San Andreas Fault. Experts estimate over 3,800 people died, and thousands were injured. The UN warns of further risks of landslides and floods due to the approaching monsoon season.
