French Air Traffic Controllers Strike Causes Widespread Flight Disruptions

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

On July 3, 2025, French air traffic controllers initiated a two-day strike, impacting airports across France. The strike, driven by demands for improved working conditions and increased staffing, has led to significant flight cancellations and delays.

Major airports like Paris Charles de Gaulle, Nice, Lyon, Marseille, and Montpellier have been particularly affected. Airlines were advised to reduce flights, but widespread disruptions have still occurred, with Ryanair canceling 170 flights and EasyJet canceling 274.

Travelers are experiencing delays, with average arrival delays of 1.5 hours at Nice Airport. Unions are demanding increased staffing and improved conditions. The French Transport Minister has described the demands as "unacceptable."
