German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier visited Kibbutz Be'eri on May 14, which was severely affected during the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023. Steinmeier previously visited shortly after the attacks, and Germany has pledged seven million euros for reconstruction. During his visit with President Herzog, plans for a new art gallery were presented and a tree was planted as a symbol of renewal. Steinmeier stated Germany would not forget the hostages taken by Hamas.
