Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - In an unexpected meeting on Wednesday, President Trump urged Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to sign the Abraham Accords. This occurred one day after the U.S. lifted all sanctions on Syria.
The meeting took place during the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh, with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participating via phone. Trump also requested Syria to remove foreign terrorists, deport Palestinian terrorists, assist in preventing the resurgence of ISIS, and assume responsibility for ISIS detention centers.
Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Syria was met with approval from Saudi business leaders. He stated that this action would give Syria a good chance and that the U.S. is exploring normalization with Syria's new government.
