Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

Spain's Interior Ministry declared a state of emergency on Monday following a nationwide power blackout. The blackout affected most of the Iberian Peninsula.

The emergency status will be applied in regions that request it. Madrid, Andalusia, and Extremadura have already asked the central government to take over public order and other functions.
