The aim is to deter Russia from further aggression and provide Ukrainian forces with respite. Discussions regarding this potential deployment occurred during a meeting of defense ministers in Brussels on June 30. Russian officials have repeatedly stated their strong opposition to the expansion of NATO military presence in Ukraine.
