US Interior Department Eliminates Environmental Impact Statements for Oil and Gas Leases in Western States

The Trump administration announced on Thursday, April 10, that it will no longer mandate environmental impact statements for oil and gas leases across the U.S. West.

The Interior Department stated that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will not be required to prepare environmental impact statements for approximately 3,244 oil and gas leases across Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
