Macron Calls for Stronger Action Against Russia Amid Escalating Attacks in Ukraine

Edited by: Татьяна Гуринович

French President Emmanuel Macron stated on April 6, 2025, that stronger actions are needed against Russia if it continues to prolong the conflict in Ukraine and reject peace efforts. Macron's statement, posted on X, followed increased Russian attacks, including one on Krivi Rig, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, which resulted in 19 deaths, including nine children.

Another Russian bombing in Kyiv on the same day resulted in one fatality and three injuries. Macron noted that Ukraine accepted a proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump for a 30-day ceasefire, which Russia has reportedly rejected, intensifying its attacks. Zelenski has lamented the increased aerial assaults and the perceived lack of response from the U.S. regarding Russia's refusal to cease fire.
