Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered additional forces to the Middle East, including the Carl Vinson carrier strike group and aircraft. The deployment aims to support ongoing US strikes against Iran-backed Houthi rebels and address escalating tensions with Tehran over its nuclear program. The Carl Vinson will arrive in the region following exercises in the Indo-Pacific. The Harry S. Truman carrier strike group's deployment in the region is also being extended, according to Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell.
