Ecuador: 11 Suspects Jailed for Involvement in 2024 Attacks Linked to Organized Crime

In Ecuador, a judge has ordered the imprisonment of 11 out of 14 individuals arrested last week. They are suspected of participating in a series of attacks throughout the country in January 2024. The Prosecutor's Office announced the decision on Monday, March 24, 2025. The suspects are allegedly members of the criminal gang Los Lobos. They were apprehended in a coordinated operation across five provinces. Some of the violent acts include car bombings targeting police facilities, simultaneous prison riots, and the kidnapping of police and prison guards. The suspects face charges including organized crime, kidnapping, terrorism, weapons possession, and drug trafficking. The judge also ordered three other suspects to report regularly to judicial authorities and froze the bank accounts of all those involved in the investigation.
