Gaza Death Toll Exceeds 50,000 Amidst Intensified Israeli Operations; US Envoy Addresses Hamas Stance

The Hamas-governed Health Ministry in Gaza reported on Sunday, March 23, 2025, that at least 50,021 individuals have died in the Palestinian territory since the commencement of hostilities with Israel in October 2023. Additionally, 113,274 people have sustained injuries. The Civil Defense, the primary relief organization in the area, corroborated the death toll, also exceeding 50,000. Israeli forces have intensified military operations in Rafah, specifically in Tal Al Sultan near the Egyptian border, urging immediate evacuation. Recent Israeli attacks have resulted in at least 673 fatalities and over a thousand injuries since March 18. In the last 24 hours alone, bombings, primarily concentrated in Khan Yunis and Rafah, have caused 39 deaths and 61 injuries, according to operational Gazan hospitals. Among the deceased is a Hamas political leader. Amidst these events, the U.S. envoy for Hamas negotiations with Israel, has addressed concerns regarding reconstruction efforts in Gaza and the return of Palestinians to northern areas. He stated that Hamas must be dismantled and Gaza secured to prevent future attacks.
