German Parliament Approves €3 Billion in Military Aid for Ukraine

The Budget Committee of the Lower House of the German Parliament approved €3 billion in military aid for Ukraine on March 21, 2025. This decision followed the approval of a reform allowing the state to incur unlimited debt for defense matters. This €3 billion will be added to the €4 billion already budgeted for 2025. The Budget Committee also approved guarantees enabling the government to commit an additional €8.3 billion between 2026 and 2029, facilitating the finalization of corresponding supply contracts. The package includes units of the Iris-T anti-aircraft defense systems, which are yet to be manufactured and are expected to be delivered within the next two years.
