European Investment Bank to Significantly Increase Defense Project Funding in 2025

The European Investment Bank (EIB) anticipates a substantial increase in funding for defense projects in 2025, potentially doubling or tripling the amount provided in 2024. This move comes as the EU aims to bolster its security spending by at least 800 billion euros over four years. In 2024, the EIB provided 1 billion euros in financing for defense and security-related projects. The bank is currently considering 14 investment projects in this sector. One such project involves funding for barracks and buildings to accommodate soldiers in Lithuania, focusing on "hard infrastructure" for military contingent relocation in border areas.
