Large Energy Users Pledge Support for Nuclear Power Expansion at CERAWeek

Major industrial and tech companies, including Dow, Occidental, Alleseas, OSGE, and backed by the World Nuclear Association, have pledged support for expanding nuclear power. This non-binding pledge demonstrates growing support for nuclear energy after previous resistance. The companies, attending the CERAWeek conference in Houston, recognize nuclear energy's ability to provide continuous power regardless of weather or location. This move follows steps taken by tech giants in October to explore small modular reactors for energy and heat generation. Former US President Joe Biden also supported nuclear power as crucial for reducing emissions, signing legislation in February 2024 to accelerate nuclear plant development. The pledge encourages other large energy consumers to join the initiative.
