Former Georgian President Saakashvili Sentenced to Additional Nine Years for Embezzlement

On Wednesday, a Georgian court sentenced former President Mikheil Saakashvili to nine additional years in prison after convicting him of embezzlement, according to Interpress news agency. Saakashvili, who served as president from 2004 to 2013, is already serving a six-year sentence for abuse of power, imposed after his return to Georgia in 2021. He has been primarily confined to a prison hospital during his sentence.
