German Airport Workers to Strike Amid Wage Dispute

Workers at Frankfurt Airport, Germany's largest airport, and ten other German airports are scheduled to strike on Monday. The Verdi trade union announced the strike after wage negotiations for public sector employees failed. The strike, involving ground staff and most Fraport employees, is set to begin at midnight Monday (2300 UTC). Verdi seeks an 8% pay increase, higher bonuses, and three additional days off for approximately 2.5 million public sector workers. Local municipalities and the federal government consider these demands financially unfeasible.
