Sudan: Joint Forces Intercept Military Supplies Destined for RSF in North Darfur

Forces allied with the Sudanese army reported intercepting a significant shipment of military supplies en route to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in North Darfur on Friday. The Joint Forces, comprising former rebel groups, stated the convoy was intended for indiscriminate shelling in al-Fashir and Omdurman, including displaced persons camps. The RSF has denied these claims, calling them false. The intercepted convoy allegedly contained artillery and howitzer shells, rockets, and bombs. The Joint Forces also claimed to have neutralized foreign mercenaries. Fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF began in April 2023, leading to displacement and a hunger crisis. The UN human rights chief has warned of further escalation and widespread starvation in Sudan.
