Mozambican President Daniel Chapo has identified the revision of the electoral law as a priority following discussions with parliamentary political parties in Maputo. President Chapo indicated that these dialogues could lead to a constitutional review. The dialogue, initiated by former President Filipe Nyusi due to a post-election crisis, aims to achieve consensus on electoral laws for future elections. The discussions currently involve parties with parliamentary seats such as PODEMOS, RENAMO, and MDM, as well as the extra-parliamentary Nova Democracia. President Chapo stated that there is already consensus regarding the terms of reference for signing an agreement. The dialogue will also include extra-parliamentary parties such as the Partido Humanitário de Moçambique, Partido de Renovação Social, Revolução Democrática, and Partido da Reconciliação Nacional. Venâncio Mondlane, who is contesting the election results, was not present at the meeting.
