Mexican authorities apprehended a suspected leader of a criminal organization operating in the border region with the United States on Friday, February 14, 2025. The individual, identified by local media as Humberto Rivera, also known as El Chato, El don, or El Viejón, is allegedly the leader of the Gente Nueva group, which operates in the northern state of Chihuahua and is associated with the Sinaloa Cartel.
Rivera's arrest occurred in Ciudad Juarez after he was stopped for speeding. Authorities discovered packages containing synthetic drugs inside his vehicle, leading to his immediate detention.
