Israel Completes Withdrawal from Netzarim Corridor in Gaza, Marking a Key Step in Ceasefire Agreement with Hamas

The Israeli military has fully withdrawn from the Netzarim Corridor, a key dividing line in the Gaza Strip, as part of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. The withdrawal, which took place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, marks a significant step in the ongoing peace process.

A spokesperson for the Gaza Interior Ministry confirmed that Israeli forces dismantled their positions and military checkpoints, completely removing their tanks from the Netzarim Corridor, located on the Salahadin Road. This allows vehicles to freely pass in both directions.

The Netzarim Corridor, a strip of land dividing the Palestinian enclave into northern and southern sections, was established by Israel during the conflict in Gaza and had been under Israeli military control until now.

As part of the ceasefire agreement, Israel committed to withdrawing from the corridor, enabling the return of displaced Palestinians to the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

On Sunday, vehicles loaded with belongings, including water tanks and suitcases, were seen heading north on a road crossing Netzarim. According to the agreement, Israel is required to allow vehicles to cross without inspection, and no troops were reportedly present near the road.

While Israeli officials, speaking anonymously to the Associated Press, did not disclose the number of soldiers withdrawing, troops remain stationed along the Gaza borders with Israel and Egypt. A complete withdrawal is expected to be negotiated at a later stage of the ceasefire.
