UN Appoints New Aid Chief Amid Global Humanitarian Crises

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 9 (Reuters) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed former British diplomat Tom Fletcher as the new aid chief for the world body, responding to escalating humanitarian crises in the Gaza Strip, Sudan, and other regions driven by ongoing conflicts.

Fletcher takes over from Martin Griffiths, who resigned at the end of June due to health issues. His appointment comes at a critical time as the UN seeks to address urgent humanitarian needs worldwide.

This leadership change highlights the international community's increasing focus on humanitarian aid amidst severe crises affecting millions.
