US President Donald Trump officially announced plans for South Korean investments in American energy projects. Among them are an already agreed-upon gas power plant in Texas, a liquefied natural gas project in Alaska worth 54 billion dollars, and the construction of eight large nuclear power plants.
The statement was made on 30 September 2026 at the White House. The total amount of investments is estimated at up to 200 billion dollars and is linked to the 2025 trade agreement between the two countries.
According to Trump, these projects will strengthen US energy security and expand cooperation with South Korea. In particular, the Alaska LNG project envisions the construction of a pipeline to supply gas to Asia.
The South Korean side confirmed the completion of the deal on the Texas plant, while the remaining initiatives remain the subject of further consultations. How will this affect the actual implementation of the plans?
The announcement highlights the growing role of bilateral energy ties amid global changes in resource supplies.
