SpaceX, Blue Origin, ULA Dominate 2025 Space Coast Launches Amidst Growing Satellite Internet Race

Florida's Space Coast is experiencing a surge in orbital missions in 2025, primarily driven by SpaceX, Blue Origin, and United Launch Alliance (ULA). These companies are key players in the intensifying competition to deploy satellite internet constellations.

SpaceX continues its frequent Starlink launches. On May 14, a Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched 28 Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, marking the 42nd orbital mission from the Space Coast this year. The first-stage booster completed its fourth flight, landing on the 'A Shortfall of Gravitas' droneship. SpaceX's Starlink constellation has over 6,750 operational satellites in orbit.

Blue Origin's New Glenn debuted in January 2025. ULA launched an Atlas V rocket in April for Amazon's Project Kuiper satellites. Project Kuiper aims to deploy over 3,200 satellites by 2028. ULA has plans for more Atlas V launches in June for Amazon's Project Kuiper.

The increasing number of satellites improves global internet access. However, it also raises concerns about space debris and orbital congestion.
