NASA has completed the assembly of the Space Launch System (SLS) core stage and rocket boosters for the Artemis 2 mission at Kennedy Space Center. The core stage, standing 212 feet tall, is the rocket's backbone, housing propellant and supporting other components. Twin solid rocket boosters, each 177 feet tall, provide the majority of thrust. The launch vehicle stage adapter will be added next. The Orion spacecraft, already configured for flight, awaits integration. Once fully assembled, the SLS will undergo testing at Launch Complex 39B. The Artemis 2 mission, planned for no earlier than April 2026, will send astronauts around the Moon.
