MaiaSpace Secures First Commercial Launch Contract with Exotrail for Spacevan Missions Starting in 2027

MaiaSpace, an ArianeGroup spin-off specializing in small launch vehicles, has secured its first commercial launch contract with Exotrail. The agreement, announced on March 20, involves multiple launches of Exotrail's spacevan orbital transfer vehicles, with missions potentially commencing as early as 2027.

MaiaSpace's launch vehicle, currently under development, is projected to begin operations in late 2026 from French Guiana. It is designed to deliver payloads of up to 1,500 kg to orbit in expendable configuration or 500 kg with a reusable booster landing on a barge. A kick stage is also in development to further enhance payload capacity.

Exotrail's spacevan, which first launched in November 2023 via a SpaceX rideshare, has additional missions planned, including a GEO rideshare on an Ariane 6 in 2026. This partnership with MaiaSpace aims to provide Exotrail with increased flexibility and reliable launch options tailored to customer needs.
