In July 2025, Monaco. The 12th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge concluded at the Yacht Club de Monaco.
The Uniboat-University of Bologna Argonauts Team secured the overall championship, marking their fourth consecutive victory in the Energy Class.
The event hosted 42 teams from 20 countries, showcasing sustainable maritime mobility innovations. In addition, the floating laboratories focused on innovative projects using hydrogen.
Among them is the first energy-autonomous vessel powered by a mix of solar, wind, hydro, and hydrogen produced on board. Since 2017, this floating laboratory has traveled over 68,000 nautical miles and visited more than 50 countries, proving the reliability of zero-emission technologies in various conditions.
The Uniboat team set a new Energy Class speed record of 26.63 knots, excelling in slalom and endurance events.
They also received the Innovation Prize and Design Prize.
Another noteworthy achievement of the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge was the development of toroidal propellers, capable of reducing underwater noise levels by 50–80%, which is an important factor for marine flora and fauna and ecosystems.
The event, attended by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, highlights Monaco's commitment to sustainable yachting and the maritime sector's energy transition.
