IBM Power11 Servers: Zero Downtime and AI Integration

Edited by: an_lymons vilart

July 25, 2025, IBM announced the general availability of its Power11 servers, designed for enterprise workloads.

The Power11 servers are engineered to achieve 99.9999% uptime, effectively eliminating planned downtime through autonomous patching and automated workload movement.

IBM's Power Cyber Vault provides less than one-minute ransomware threat detection.

The servers are optimized for AI workloads, featuring built-in on-chip acceleration for inferencing.

Power11 will support the IBM Spyre Accelerator, a system-on-a-chip designed for AI-intensive inference tasks, expected to be available in Q4 2025.

Power11 delivers up to 55% better core performance compared to Power9 and offers up to 45% more capacity.

The servers provide twice the performance per watt compared to comparable x86 servers and achieve up to 28% better server efficiency with the new Energy Efficient Mode.

Power11 will include high-end, mid-range, and entry servers, as well as IBM Power Virtual Server in IBM Cloud, upon general availability.

This offers a seamless hybrid deployment model.
