Dogger Bank South Wind Farms: Seabed Surveys Underway for 3 GW Capacity

Edited by: an_lymons vilart

RWE and Masdar's Dogger Bank South (DBS) offshore wind farms, located 122 km off the northeast coast of England, are undergoing detailed seabed geophysical and geotechnical surveys starting April 2025. TGS is acquiring ultra-high-resolution seismic data to assess subsea terrain at turbine locations. Fugro will examine ground conditions at the sites of 100 wind turbines using cone penetration tests (CPTs) and sampling boreholes, starting May 2025. The DBS projects aim for a combined capacity of 3 GW, potentially supplying 3 million homes. Construction could commence in 2026/27, pending approvals.
