ADQ and ECP Partner to Develop 25 GW of Power Generation in the US Amidst Surging Data Center Energy Demand

Abu Dhabi's ADQ and US-based ECP have formed a 50-50 partnership, investing an initial $5 billion to develop 25 GW of new power generation capacity in the US over the next five years. The projects will focus on gas-fired power generation to meet the energy demands of data centers and energy-intensive industries, driven by the rise of AI. Data centers accounted for 4.4% of US electricity consumption in 2023, projected to reach 12% by 2028. ADQ targets energy demand hotspots in the northeastern and southwestern US, planning to finalize the first power purchase agreement (PPA) within 12 months. This initiative aims to provide customized energy solutions for data center operators, tailoring power-generation assets to their specific needs.
